Alam 1 Nelofar Alam Prof Smail History 101 December 10, 2015 Alexander The Great Alexander the Great, king of Macedonia, ruler of the Persian Empire and one of the best military intelligence of all times, he has many books written about his achievements. This paper goes into detail about Alexander’s early life, to impressive battles, to his humble personality. In this paper, I will be talking about how Alexander came to be king of Macedonia, his invasion to unite Asia, and his mental insanity that drove him to die a lonely death. In an amazing eleven-year journey of success, Alexander the Great, of Macedonia, took over all the way from Egypt to India. Following his monarchy came Greek institutions and the Greek language, which became the norm way of the ancient world. When Alexander was born, the temple of Diana at Ephesus burned to the ground. People thought that this was a warning sign that the power that would eventually wipeout Asia had come to the world. That power was baby Alexander. Alexander was born in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia. He was the son of Philip II, the king of Macedonia, and of Olympias, a princess of Epirius. Philip and Olympias had payed attention to their son who was growing up very fast and had potential for greatness. They immeditly started to plan his education. His first teacher, Leonidas, was a family member and was very strict on Alexander.
